When I moved to the dry climate of Las Vegas from the humid city of Austin, my skin was in shock. The Aveeno lotion I bought From CVS was not cutting it, I needed something to give me wholehearted hydration for my cracking hands and itchy skin. Fortunately, I stumbled upon this Goddess Goo while shopping at Trader Joe's and decided to give it a try. And wow it certainly did the trick.
I now apply it to my skin once a day after I shower. Sometimes twice a day... also before I go to bed. This is a cleansing ritual that helps keep my body hydrated, warding off dryness and the feelings of being distracted and irritability that come with it.
Applying coconut oil as a skin moisturizer is therapeutic, and is only one of the many ways you can use it.
Other uses include:
- Cuticle moisturizer
- Oil Pulling
- Antibiotic for cuts, scratches
- Deep conditioning for hair
- Keeping your pet’s coat shiny & healthy
- Making Sugar Shower Scrubs
- Eye Make-up Remover
- Massage oil
People do other curious things with coconut oil- cook with it, eat teaspoons of it, put it in their coffee… I’d recommend sticking to the basics (listed above) to get started, ingesting it can give you an upset stomach because it is so high in fat content.
Trust me, I got a little too obsessed and ate it once, and felt pretty sick afterwards. I cooked my eggs with coconut oil one time too, and decided I'd better stick to olive oil instead. How you use coconut oil is really up to you're preference. I now encourage you to purchase your first jar of coco oil and test your own personal limits with the Goddess Goo.
